The 1819 – Bespoke Scottish Dry Gin

The new gin, which takes its name from the date the building was completed, draws on inspiration from Isa Gray, the famous botanist and close friend of Charles Darwin who frequented the Waterloo Place hotel. In celebration of the Apex Waterloo Place’s 200th birthday, the food and beverage team created ‘the 1819’, a bespoke Scottish dry gin, in association with St Andrew’s distillery Eden Mill.  I went along to an exclusive press launch to find out more and to sample some exclusive cocktails paired with some small but perfectly formed plates.
