It’s quarter to six on a Friday evening, I’m in a cab on my way to Kerry’s and I’ve forgotten to bring a bottle of wine. Instead of swearing or asking the taxi to stop at an off-license, I turn to my phone.

Staying in with grain whisky from Douglas Laing & Co
Christopher and I stayed in one cold Tuesday night to do a grain whisky tasting with Douglas Laing & Co‘s Jan Beckers. Laing sent four old grain samples and boxes of sweets to pair them with. The event was hosted on the company’s Facebook page.

Getting Festive at Foodies: Nicki reports
Last weekend we popped in to look round the Foodies Festival at the EICC. Loved the variety of stands there, we sampled most things from the gooiest ever chocolate brownies to gin, raw sugar cane rum cocktails, curry and everything in between. We loved the demos too and especially liked the look of Mark Heirs cured salmon using Arbikie Gin.

Edinburgh Coffee Festival was a two-day event aimed equally to amateurs and industry with talks, samples and products. Christopher and I expected to come out jittery from caffeine but didn’t: it was really busy so instead of queuing for samples, we went to talks.
