Pickering’s Gin at the launch of Juniper’s autumn/winter cocktail menu
EdinburghFoody was out and about on Thursday at Juniper Edinburgh, trying out the launch of their new autumn/winter cocktail menu, including the overall winning cocktail at last week’s Cocktails in the City, the Cockburn’s Walk, which Juniper won, in association with Pickering’s Gin.
A cocktail of Pickering’s Gin, Cockburn’s Port, raspberries, cherry and chocolate bitters, it is garnished with orange and a physalis. This winning cocktail has meant Juniper has guaranteed their spot at #CITCEdin next year and a chance to defend their cocktail title.

Other cocktails on offer on the night was the Tipsy Dutchess, made with Ketel One Vodka, lemon, passion fruit, with a red wine foam. Whilst it looked pretty as a picture, it’s one of those cocktails that needs to be drunk quite quickly as the foam has a tendency to split, which isn’t a nice texture in the mouth.

I loved the simplicity of the Tanqueray Gin and tonic served just as it should be, simply poured into a big fishbowl glass.

Juniper also put on some rather delicious bar bites to help soak up the alcohol, including a spiced lentil dahl, steak and peppercorn sauce, and in my mind, one of the best mac n cheeses, you’ll find in the city.
