Edinburgh has many artisan bakeries selling direct to the public and some excellent commercial bakeries producing artisan bread too. Here’s the first map of the bread bakeries in Edinburgh. Links to stories about the bakeries will be gradually added.
We’re using the Real Bread Campaign‘s definition of real bread to map artisan bakeries in Edinburgh. I know there are many splendid cake shops and those that stock breads not made by themselves. But this list is very specific. Do let us know if we’ve missed a bakery that focuses on bread and produces its own ‘in house’. And if you work for a bakery, let us know when we can come and visit! Many bakeries are now open 7 days. That Sunday morning breakfast is going to be awesome
Real Bread is bread that is made without the use of processing aids or any other artificial additives
