#BloggersXmas at Kilderkin

Kilderkin

Amy and Caroline went to the Kilderkin to get inspiration for Christmas gifts.

Love Tiki barware showed off the cute, the bling and the funky. If you need glasses, measures – anything cocktail-related – these guys have you covered with individual items and gift packs. I want the totem pole shot mugs; my friend R. needs pineapple shot glasses. (Keep an eye out for the gin club coming later this year.)

La Petite Mort is a restaurant and bar in in Tollcross (read Amy’s review). We got to taste their Christmas menu (mojito cured salmon with smoked salmon balontine, roast chestnut potato, and melt-in-the mouth pork belly). La Petite Mort do infused cocktails, delivered in a ‘porthole’ container. You have to order them in advance and they sound intriguing.

Daffy’s Gin has one of the most eye-catching bottles on the market (you can get goblets to match). I enjoyed hearing the story behind the label while finding what a good sipping gin Daffy’s is. The small-batch process and unique botanicals are the secret. If you know a gin lover, Daffy’s Gin gift boxes make great Christmas presents.

Royal Mile Whiskies closed the evening by offering us a couple of drams (surprising me with how easy to drink Dewar’s 12 year old is). They, and sister shop Drinkmonger, offer great service from people who really know what they’re talking about. A perfect place to go for gifts when shopping for foodies (or yourself). Check out the events section for details on their Christmas Fair.

About Caroline von Schmalensee

Cooking, eating and drinking is fun as well as necessary. I do food for fun and I write for a living. Good food makes the world a more delicious and satisfying place. Good writing, meanwhile, can make the world a less confusing place.
