May 18: Ishka’s launch party

I’m sipping a Dawn Chorus, an evocative concoction of Edinburgh Gin Plum Liquer and Daffy’s Gin, misted with absinthe. The room is busy with people coming to celebrate the opening of stylish new restaurant and bar Ishka.

Outside on Morrison Street the sun shines on people in fancy outfits entering the EICC for the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards.  Ishka offered Bellinis, salmon shots, venison sliders, lemon meringue bites and prosecco galore. The menu looks interesting and I look forward to visiting when they are up and running. Might pop in earlier for another Dawn Chorus. It was my kind of cocktail.

About Caroline von Schmalensee

Cooking, eating and drinking is fun as well as necessary. I do food for fun and I write for a living. Good food makes the world a more delicious and satisfying place. Good writing, meanwhile, can make the world a less confusing place.
