Three of the EdinburghFoody team, Kerry, Amy and Caroline, headed to the Shore for the official launch of TOAST, Leith’s first wine cafe and a long overdue catch-up before Amy headed to the Usher Hall to see one of her favourite bands, The National.
Located in a former art gallery, Toast has been opened at the beginning of August. With 44 covers inside and 20 outside, it serves simple yet imaginative food alongside a carefully curated, predominantly, biodynamic, organic and natural wine list. There’s even a sommelier on hand, Seli Shama, who can create a bespoke tasting menu to suit individual tastes. Kerry was very excited about this.
Breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch and evening menus are on offer from Head Chef Lizzie Arber and her team, using ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Toast’s coffee is sourced from Monmouth Coffee Company, the oldest roaster in Britain; cakes, pastries and breads, including vegan and gluten-free options are sourced from Quay Commons, Pastry Section and Grams. A hand-picked selection of craft beers sits alongside a short but intriguing cocktail list.
