Ever since barrels of Bordeaux’s best wines landed at the Wine Quay of Leith in the 13th century, Scotland has had an affinity with fine wine. Back then, it may only have been enjoyed by society’s elite, but, thankfully, things have changed.

The new wine fair, Edinburgh Uncorked, promises wine lovers the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic selection of ‘Great Wines at Great Prices’.

Edinburgh’s only summer wine fair will bring together 14 diverse wine producers, more than 100 different wines, including red, white, rosé and sparkling, to try as well as buy. There will be wine suitable for everyday drinking as well as special occasions, and everything in between. A great opportunity for people to find their perfect wines for summer drinking.

Exhibitors range from small independents such as Woodhouse Wines to bigger players including Lidl and Waitrose, which both have excellent reputations for great wine. The wines on offer will range in price from £4.99 to £29.99. There will also be a range of tasting masterclasses hosted by experts, as well as the chance to get top tips from producers.

In addition to wonderful wines, the Edin-burgers, Scotland’s leading speciality burger company, will be on hand with a delicious range of handmade burgers, which are all additive and gluten free. There is also a fantastic new vegan burger, so something for everyone in between tastings.

On arrival, every visitor will receive a gorgeous wine glass (worth £15) from renowned glass producer Riedel, for tasting on the day and to take home. Anyone who signs up for one of the Wine Masterclasses – special tastings hosted by experts – will receive a second glass to keep.

Edinburgh Uncorked founder Diana Thompson, who also runs Scotland’s annual sparkling wine festival, Fizz Feast, explains the fair has come about as a direct result of the success of her Facebook group of the same name, where members share information about well-priced wines they enjoy throughout the Capital.
