I was out and about at the weekend at the Gin Lounge’s first ever stand alone Festival at the Assembly Rooms. With the lovely company of the Social Bitches and Sharon from Bite Magazine, there really wasn’t a better way to spend a Saturday.

The Lookout, Calton Hill – Dining with a view
I was lucky to get sight of one of Edinburgh’s most anticipated restaurant openings last night, the Lookout by Gardener’s Cottage. The first ever restaurant on Calton Hill, with breath-taking views across the Firth of Forth and the city skyline, it opened on Saturday and its spectacular; although my pictures won’t do the views justice, with too much reflection of people in the glass windows.

EdinburghFoody was out and about on Thursday at Juniper Edinburgh, trying out the launch of their new autumn/winter cocktail menu, including the overall winning cocktail at last week’s Cocktails in the City, the Cockburn’s Walk, which Juniper won, in association with Pickering’s Gin.

We went to The Westroom in Edinburgh’s West End to celebrate its launch as Edinburgh first cicchetti bar. A couple of proseccos and meatballs later we were very happy.

Borough opens in Leith adding to the vibrant food scene
Taking my car for a service and its annual MOT in Leith at the end of June, I noticed a new restaurant, Borough, in the space that was previously Norn and before that the Plumed Horse. It’s great that spaces don’t stand still long in Leith, an area fast becoming a foody destination that is worth seeking out. Sadly it wasn’t open but it wasn’t long before an invitation dropped into my inbox to come and see what it was all about.

Once again, Kerry was delighted to attend a glittering awards ceremony last night celebrating the best of Scottish Food and Drink at the EICC, where 740 people gathered to see the winners crowned.
