Cocktail inspiration – Cocktails in the City is back!

You’ll know by now that we love a good cocktail. What we also love is something that surprises and enchants us. Something that is unique and we’ll not find somewhere else. Is this possible? Yes indeed!

Cocktails in the City is a two day event held at the amazing Mansfield Traquair (it’s worth booking just to gaze at the decor!). Sixteen different bars from all over Edinburgh are participating. Their mixologists have been honing their skills over the last few weeks. Exotic mixtures have been brewed, tasted and refined.

Of course, a sense of theatre is also required. Visitors to the event will be asked to not only choose their favourite cocktail, but the best experience provided on the night. Having been to several of their previous events, our expectation is really high!

A few weeks ago, Danielle went along to a preview. Four bars presented the cocktails that they will be showcasing on the night. Four creative cocktails, each so different to the other were demonstrated and we tasted. Suffice to say, they are fabulous. There was one from Juniper called Morning Elixir – gin, milk and their own Autumn spice mix. Another, from Harvey Nichols called Botanical Garden includes gin, peach liqueur, celery, thym and peach bitters. If all the remaining twelve are as good as this, we are in for a treat!

If you fancy going along on the 29th, check out this extra special offer to receive two cocktails with your entry ticket rather than the standard one.

So which was Danielle’s favourite? Hard to choose, but it might just be Sealed with a Kiss

This cocktail includes a home made cordial. A drop or two of rose water would be a good substitute, just increase the amount of juice used.
